Happy Halloween! [Hyvää pyhäinpäivää!]

Time to party! Niko is happy it's finally Halloween and he's put on a party at Jake's house for everyone to attend, decking out Jake's apartment in Halloween decorations, making it even more gothic and spooky than usual. Why not have a party at a vampire's house while travelling on tour? It would be fun. Niko had help from some of the other musicians and wanted to surprise Jake with his special costume which he got from a decent store. The Finn dressed in a rather fetching Viking wolf costume which he hoped Jake would like.

There is party food, drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, cakes, sweets and small trick or treat bags for people to take away food if they wanted back to the tour buses.

"Hyvää pyhäinpäivää!"

That translated into "Happy Halloween for the non Finnish speakers.

"Happy Halloween!"

Traditionally, Niko's country celebrated All Saint's Day by lighting candles and remembering the dead that way. Yet, he was here in America and wanted to join in with the customs of many of the others, including dressing up and having a party. As well as food, drink and costumes there is also pumpkin carving available outside the apartment with the pumpkins lined up for people to have a go at.

"Everyone is free to have food, booze, carve pumpkins, party and have fun!"

He had heard that Bjorn had hosted the last Halloween party in LA and this one would be even better, now that there were more people.

"I love the Skjoldånd's new mask..." Dee started, only processing what Ansgar had said mid-sentence. "wait... really? Shit."

Jay subtly slid his hand out from under Dee's shirt.

Ansgar nodded. "I can warn them."

He smiled and shrugged. "I like the idea." He wasn't as religiously superstitious as the others. "Aarne is noaidi, the ones that contact the spirits and they believe inanimate objects have spirits." Which should clear up a little about how possessed dolls could be a fear, culturally. "He's sensitive, Hunter too, I think."

Clearly, the two of the hadn't thought a ventriloquist and his dummy would have been culturally insensitive. If anything, they were expecting a lot of 'I'm no dummy, you're the dummy.' jokes.

"If you could?" Jay asked respectfully.

If it helped, Dee wasn't trying to be a possessed doll. More like a real one. Jay had his hand up Dee's shirt, as though he was controlling his mouth movements.

It wasn't culturally insensitive so much as getting used to so many superstitious people.

"Of course." Ansgar reassured them. "There's a lot of superstitions for us. You should be backstage at a Hammers' show, it's almost more of a ritual than our stage performance." Ansgar assumed it might be similar for Svarte Ravner, maybe, they had the same mix of very religious though far more stoic than most of the Hammers.

Despite traveling with everyone, there were still a lot of nuances Dee and Jay didn't know about the various beliefs. The topic of possessed dolls wasn't something that spontaneously came up in everyday conversations. Not like spirituality and drumming had.

"Superstitions like what?" Jay asked.

"Well...." Ansgar looked around and thankfully the mask hid a lot of his lip worrying over the sheer volume of superstition. "It depends who you're talking to.. I guess."

Ansgar shrugged. "My brother is very superstitious about bees.. and... food, I think... I think Aarne and Vars.. and Hunter are the most superstitious about spirits and bad omens."
